Project type: Scaffolding to access a chimney stack on a bungalow.
Location: Constable Drive, Selsey, Chichester, West Sussex, PO20.
Client requirements: This customer required a scaffold erecting at the rear of their bungalow in Selsey, so they could access the chimney on the roof and safely remove it. For this type of tower, we charged £500 with a hire period of 1 week which could be extended if the customer needed extra time.
Obstacles and challenges we faced: No issues arose with this scaffold. We gained access to the rear of the property from the front. Extra care was taken in the owner’s garden, and we also needed to be careful not to damage any tiles when resting the scaffolding tubes on boards on the roof.
What we did: Our team erected a tower that was approximately 2.4 metres long by 4.5 metres high. The top platform was extended into the roof, which sat at the base of the chimney stack. There was also a Velux window in the roof that we built the framework around, so part of the platform’s support rested underneath the Velux with the working platform placed above it. This scaffolding tower was built wider than usual to give our customer plenty of room to complete their work.
Other information
Hire period: This was not a large chimney stack, so our customer only needed to hire this access scaffold for a maximum of 7 days.
