Project type: Internal birdcage scaffold platform.
Location: Redvins Barn, Goodwood Estate, Halnaker, Chichester, PO18 0QJ.
Client requirements: This client got in touch with us a second time after we had completed a free-standing temporary roof at the same location which acted as a cover for a new £1.2million generator that was part of a £18million renewable energy project. This was so that waste energy could be turned in to new energy to power the whole of the Goodwood estate for one year including all festivals and evening events etc. We were asked by this client to provide additional access to the same generator, but this time we were required to build an internal birdcage scaffold platform so that all the pipes could be lagged with protective insulation before the colder weather arrived.
Obstacles and challenges we faced: The area which our client needed access to was in and around a generator, and because of where it was situated, there was very little room for manoeuvre and so we had to take extra care not to damage any part of this very expensive piece of kit. So, our scaffolders took their time in carefully getting our equipment in and around the generator so we could provide our client with the access they needed to get their job done.
What we did: As you will see from the images above, we had to build the birdcage around some large pipes that were part of the working generator. There were also steels in the way which the machinery was also connected to, so we were required to erect our scaffolding framework carefully around these obstacles. However, we did manage to take advantage of the steels that were present and connected our birdcage scaffolding to them which helped to give extra stability to the structure. We achieved this by connecting our tube to the steels using SK fittings or another name that is given to them is girder clamps which are designed to fit around scaffold tube and then are fixed securely to the steel. Once the initial birdcage framework was erected and securely in place, we then installed a single top working lift which was eight-boards wide, and this was to give our client as much room as possible to work when lagging the pipes. We also provided them with fixed ladder access at one end of the birdcage.
Hire period: The hire period for this scaffold was only two days, and this was because it was such a small and simple job to complete that once our client had safe and secure access to the area this then allowed for the works to be completed in superfast time.
If you would like a scaffolding erected that is similar to the above then our process is very simple, all you need to do is contact us via telephone, email or the fastest way is to fill out our online quote form where you will provide the information, we need to be able to provide a quote. If we do not require any additional information, we will then supply you with a quotation which will include an agreed hire period.
Once you accept our quotation, we will book you in for the date requested. On the day of erection our scaffolders will arrive to put up the structure safely also leaving ladder access once completed. You are then ready to complete your works or project. Once the scaffold is no longer required you will need to contact us, and we will provide you with a dismantle date (which we will keep to) we will then arrive on the agreed date and remove all our equipment and may ask you to leave a review if you are happy to do so.
